The Cathedral Chorister Program aims to bring the boys and girls of our city the joy of choral singing at the highest level, rooted in the rich repertoire of the church, and supported by professional musical training. Singing in one of Savannah’s most beautiful sacred spaces, choristers grow in musicianship while learning to read music fluently and sing with healthy, confident, technique.

There is no cost to families. Parents are asked to volunteer occasionally during rehearsal times or to help with snacks.

The Cathedral Boys Choir
The choir welcomes boys from the Diocese of Savannah and the wider Savannah community. No prior experience is required—only an interest in music and a willingness to commit to regular rehearsals and performances.
Boys ages 8 and up have found a joyful and disciplined environment where they develop leadership, teamwork, and a deeper faith through music.
The boys will learn:
● Music theory, musicianship, literacy and aural skills
● Singing technique
● Music history
● A wide range of sacred repertoire from the Middle Ages to the present
● Teamwork
● Ancient and modern language diction
● Artistry and how to interpret a text with meaning
The Cathedral Boys Choir sings one Saturday Vigil Mass every month and will also participate in planned concerts, tours, and recordings.
Our program follows a traditional cathedral-style progression of chorister ranks with medals marking key milestones. The boys enjoy the challenge, the camaraderie, and the satisfaction of working together towards a shared goal.

St. Cecilia Training Choir
The Training Choir is a welcoming and supportive group for young singers beginning their journey in the Cathedral’s music program. It focuses on introducing strong vocal technique, matching pitch, the fundamentals of music-reading, and confidence in a choral rehearsal and performance setting. Members gradually learn the traditions and discipline of cathedral singing while preparing to progress into the full choir. Through regular rehearsals and performances, the Training Choir lays a strong musical and spiritual foundation in a nurturing environment for our youngest singers.
The St Cecilia Choir sings one Saturday Vigil Mass per month with their respective (Boys or Girls) choir.
