Friends Event
We kick off our season with an exclusive concert and reception dedicated to the patrons who make our music possible. The Cathedral Choral Scholars are joined by string players from the Savannah Philharmonic for Rheinberger’s elegant and rarely performed Stabat Mater. This intimate evening celebrates the enduring power of sacred choral works in the perfect acoustic setting of the Cathedral.

The Cathedral Connection: Paris Meets Savannah
VINCENT DUBOIS, Organist of Notre-Dame, Paris
MARIE-ANDREE JOERGER, accordion
Vincent Dubois—titular organist at Notre-Dame, Paris—is joined by world-renowned accordionist Marie-Andrée Joerger. This “Parisian flair” program, performed by the husband-wife duo, blends the monumental scale of the organ with the expressive, nuanced virtuosity of the accordion. Additionally, Mr. Dubois will perform famous works from the standard organ repertoire and conclude the program with a large-scale improvisation on themes submitted by the audience.

Handel’s Messiah
A timeless tradition returns to open the Advent season. This year’s Messiah features our professional vocal ensemble, the Choral Scholars, alongside a chamber orchestra of premier musicians from the Southeast’s leading symphony orchestras. The collaboration brings Handel’s most celebrated work to life. From the intimate beauty of the arias to the triumphant “Hallelujah” chorus, this performance offers a sophisticated and powerful start to the holiday season.

Christmas at the Cathedral
Due to overwhelming demand, we are pleased to offer two performances of our signature holiday celebration. Immerse yourself in the glow of the Cathedral as we celebrate the season through beloved carols, soaring choral anthems, and orchestral accompaniment. An essential Savannah holiday tradition.

Infinite Polyphony — Tallis’ Spem in alium
Witness one of the most ambitious feats in choral history: Thomas Tallis’s 40-part motet, Spem in alium. This monumental “wall of sound” event features a massive collaboration between the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist Choir, Christ the King Cathedral Choir of Atlanta, the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus, and singers from across Savannah. Hear these forty independent voice parts (almost 100 singers!) surround the audience in a sonic spectacle never before witnessed in Savannah.

Vienna Girls Choir
In a special collaboration with the Savannah Music Festival, we welcome the world-renowned Vienna Girls Choir. Known for their crystalline tone and impeccable precision, these young ambassadors of Austrian culture will fill the Cathedral with a program titled “A New Voice,” ranging from classical gems to contemporary folk arrangements.
